Image for "Archaeologies of the Future"

This picture is borrowed from an ad announcing some Spanish wine. What strikes me is its meticulous reconstruction of an aesthetic of the past, to be exact, an aesthetics that remind Isadora Duncan's expresionist dance style of beginning of XX Century. Historicism and "pastiche" are easy to find in today consumer goods, a commodification of stylistic clues used in carefully reconstructions of past image clichés, just one can observe in this image. The choosen film stock helps to produce this effect of half nostalgia / half romanticism. Yesterday's footprints, today's signals. This image has been an inspiration in the process of thinking and doing an exhibition/book/essay like "Archaelogies of the Future".
